Up next...The Dallas Zoo
We went straight to the train. BTW- this is the best way to see the animals as far as I'm concerned
Nana was so excited to go to the zoo. I was probably not too much older than the boys the last time she went to the Dallas Zoo.
Of course, we had snacks! I am amazed at the amount of food these two can put away when we are away from our house. I carried a grocery store with us on each of these outings.
Riding the elephants
Feeding the giraffe (Melman). Can you see the grin on Brody's face? It was from ear to ear! He was giddy. I couldn't get a pic from the front bc I didn't think it was good idea to hang sister over the rail.
Owen was a little more apprehensive, but he enjoyed it once he realized the giraffe would not "get" him. I thought this was the coolest thing ever to be able to hand feed a giraffe.
The apes were funny. They were not too much taller than the boys. Looked kinda like another one of them. They liked the ape's hand/toes.
Sister hopped out of the stroller to jump on the crocodile. She wasn't going to miss this!
Hello, friend.
Nice to meet you.
Nope. There's nothing in there, but these rocks are awesome
The penguins were the boys absolute favorite! They loved that they could "touch" them through the glass. We hung out here for awhile because all the penguins were so active and entertaining.
Giving kisses. If Owen comes down with a weird disease, I know where he picked it up!
Back on the carousel.
This ended up being our big finale. It was way past nap time, extremely hot, and the boys wanted to ride for a third time...TOTAL MELTDOWN. I'm surprised I wasn't stopped and accused of kidnapping! Holy Moly!
------
A funny little story...We were walking into the zoo and I was talking to the boys about what we were going to see...lions, zebras, hippos. They were chattering about what they wanted to see. We had just fed the giraffes (an amazing opportunity) and Owen asks to see a hippo. I check the map. Hmmmmm. No hippo. I try to distract him, but he insist. After each animal, he asks about the hippo. We finally forget about it when we ride he carousel. I never thought about it again. When Owen was recapping the day to Todd, he listed each animal we saw and gave a sound effect for each one. Then to wrap the story up..."no hippo, Daddy!" Really. After all those wonderful adventures, you're still talking about the lack of hippo! He doesn't miss a thing!
