New Belly Button!

Todd, Henley, and I headed to Lubbock Tuesday after work.  We had an early appointment at the hospital Wednesday morning...to fix Miss Henley's umbilical hernia.

We arrived at 6:15am and Henley was actually in a great mood.  However, she was not too pleased with having her picture taken.

Checking out her new "bracelet" she was very excited about!

The reason for our visit.  Henley was born with this and our pediatrician was sure it would heal itself by her second birthday...it did not! After going to see Dr. Goldthorn we found the hernia was above her belly button and would not heal itself.  Her brothers kindly refer to it as a "weenie" and Owen once asked "Why is her weenie way up there?".

Coloring and reading helped us pass the time while we waited for our sleepy juice. Once the juice was administered, our girl was LOOPY!!! I really appreciated the goofy-ness it brought to sweet Henley because while she and I rode the bed down to the operating room, Mommy was getting weepy. Henley had all the nurses in stitches and she was hit! Then I had to give her over and wait....and wait...

About an hour and a half later our sweet girl was brought back to us. We waited for our sleeping beauty to awake...and waited...and waited...she had no interest in waking up.

her poor little arm with her iv's. At least it was pink!

At the shift change, the nurse was trying to help us get out of there.  Henley needed to go teetee in order for us to be released but we could barely get her awake enough to drink.  He said "popcicle" and she was wide awake!

We left the hospital with instruction to call if our angel didn't teetee by 11, since we had still not gone and we were approaching the end of our day surgery timeline. Hooray! Lets get out of here! Well...Henley threw up ALL the way back to the hotel...AWESOME! Now I was really in a panic about dehydration. After a nice long nap and pedialyte, we were good to go! Bring on the cheerios and hydro codine!

Repunzel had a medical bracelet to match Henley's because she went all the way through surgery with Henley

The Earls sent balloons...things were turning around!

The next day we let Dr. Goldthorn take off the bandages to reveal the new and improved belly button!
