First ER Trip

We have officially had our first ER visit.

This is the chart that they had for Owen to describe his pain. He talked about the colors, pointing out the green face was green like Incredible Hulk and the red like Iron Man.  The nurse stopped him and said how do you feel...Owen said he looked like the red screaming face when he jumped in the pool and hit the turtle..."turtle?" the nurse asked..."yep"..."was it a real turtle?" asked the nurse with no bedside manner..."NO" Owen answered with a tone as if to say "are you crazy, dude?"

This is the nasty like gash Owen received from a plastic toy turtle in the Gray's pool.  He was jumping off the side of the pool and smacked the toy.  The part that did me in was the fatty tissue hanging out...BARFFFFFF! We texted a pic to our most wonderful nurse and she recommended we get it stitched up since it's on his chin and a bandaid probably wouldn't stand a chance with an active 4 year old.  I want to say Owen only cried for a few minutes right after it happened and NEVER again.

Loving all this attention..

The patient sprawled out with Legally Blonde on TV (he loves blondes). We got in super fast with NO wait. YEA!!!

The doc decided glue was the answer.  I was not very fond of the doc.  He couldn't get the glue to hold the gash together (maybe at that point we should have stitched it?????) When I told Owen how proud I was he wasn't crying, this man said "He's probably never had anything to cry about." That's not nice...then he spilled all the glue on Owen's neck and couldn't properly attach the tape...awesome

the green Popsicle made everything better even though he was still upset the hospital didn't have Scooby Doo bandaids

back at the Gray's house, Christin made everything better with "good" bandaids

This is the next afternoon...that is glue ALL over Owen's neck. His neck folds are glued together and the split chin is still split. When Jennifer, our nurse, called to check on him and I sent this pic; she told us to come into the office right then.  It was too late to stitch at this point but they had to dig out all the glue holding the cut open (OUCH!) and re-glue and properly tape the wound up.  This time there was LOTS of crying.  I am so mad we even went to the ER. Our pediatrician's office did a much better job even though it was too late to stitch him up.  Poor guy and he's got tons of crusty glue on his neck that he will not let me scrape off.
